Age Group Changes (2026-27)
FC Montco is transitioning from a “Birth Year” model to a “School Year” model (August 1 – July 31). This unified approach across US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, and AYSO ensures players can play with their school-grade peers and improves collegiate identification.
If you are not sure which age group to sign up for, please visit US Soccer for more information.
Tryout Schedules
Players are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions for their age group.

Age Group Transition FAQs
Who is impacted by this change?
All levels of play (Travel, Intramural, and DDP) are impacted. Many players will shift into a different age group designation than they would have under the old calendar-year model.
Will registration be based on school grade?
The vast majority of players will now play in an age group that aligns with their school grade.
Note: Players may not play “down” an age group if their birth date restricts them.
Can players "Play Up"?
- August Birthdays: Players born in August can choose to play with their school year or stay with their current age group. You must make this selection during tryout registration.
- High School Teams (2011 and Older): To keep current high school teams intact, players born in 2011 or older will be considered to play up to remain with their current team.
- General Requests: All other play-up requests must follow the club process by contacting the Director of Coaching and the Travel Director.
Why the change?
This shift reduces “trapped” players (those who finish high school but still have youth eligibility) and supports the social and developmental benefits of playing with school peers.
