Player Evaluation Process for 2024-25 Season

FC Montco is continuing to evolve our progressive, player-centered approach that allows for extended evaluation over several sessions, instead of just one or two “tryout dates” or “ID sessions.”  These sessions are led by our professional training staff with a format similar to our year-round training program.  These sessions allow for time for developing skills and game-based drills; most sessions conclude with a scrimmage to reinforce key concepts, yet allow for creativity and fun.  

At FC Montco, we feel that players shine their brightest when they feel comfortable in their surroundings.  The best way to assess a player’s development is to observe them in an environment that is as low-pressure as possible.  Feedback from parents and players last year was overwhelmingly positive, affirming our belief in this approach.  Compared to a traditional tryout process, the benefits of this approach include:

• Removing the “pressure to perform” over just one or two hours in a traditional tryout setting
• Letting new players get a feel for the trainers, coaches, and team (and vice versa)
• Providing opportunities to join the team for additional games and practices, if appropriate
• Aiding in finding the best level and team in which your child can develop next season

Register for Tryouts/Evaluations

Registration for evaluations is required for BOTH new and returning players.

All tryouts are held at Heebner Park.

After registering, new players can join their age group sessions in April (see table below), allowing for flexibility in attending multiple sessions over approximately 3 weeks. Team invitations are sent once rosters are determined in mid-April to late-April. Since roster formation will be finalized by the April time-frame, players will have time to make alternate arrangements should they not receive invitations to return to FC Montco or their team of preference for the 2024-25 season.
