Flash Take Home Opener 2-1 Over Phoenixville

Oct. 14, 2018 -- The Flash's home opener was delayed until mid-October due to rain, but it was worth the wait as they scored a 2-1 victory over Phoenixville at Heebner Park. Wearing pink jerseys in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Flash claimed their first Central League win and improved their record to 1-2-1.

Tyler put Methacton United on top with the game's first goal at the 12-minute mark of the first half. He won a loose ball outside the penalty box and drilled a shot that got through the goalie. Phoenixville recovered from a flat start and turned up its attack as the first half progressed, tying the game in the 20th minute. The Flash got strong offensive support from Colin, who frequently joined the attack from his center defense position. Connor also stood out on the defensive end, stopping repeated Phoenixville attacks with calm, steady play.

The Flash got the eventual game-winner midway through the second half. Brendan controlled the ball on the left side and centered to Kenny. Kenny quickly worked it out wide to Tyler, who buried his second goal of the game. However, the excitement didn't stop there. The Flash had to survive a penalty kick with eight minutes to go, as Phoenixville clanged the shot off the crossbar. Aidan made several good stops in net in the second half to preserve the win.

And it was, clearly, the best officiated game of the season.
