Flash Play Well but Drop Spring Season Finale

June 2, 2019 -- The Flash battled for the full 60 minutes Sunday but ultimately fell 1-0 to Southern Chester County SA in a nail-biter at Heebner Park.

A 30-minute lightning delay early in the game would have seemed to be a good omen for the Flash, named after the superhero whose suit is emblazoned with a lightning bolt. However, it was Southern Chester County that struck first, and it turned out to be the only goal of the game.

Aidan made two good saves in the first half to keep the Flash in the game. The first came on a shot from inside the 18 that was ticketed for the upper left corner. He also denied a shot from in close following a corner kick.

From the midpoint of the first half through the end of the game, the Flash controlled play in the middle of the field and created several quality scoring opportunities. Peyton and Avinh teamed up for a couple good chances, and a blast from Tyler off a pass from Charlie required a diving save by the goalie to prevent a goal. Joey keyed several runs from the defensive end, and Grayson nearly scored following a give-and-go with Aidan. But alas, none of those efforts found the back of the net.

The Flash wrapped up their spring schedule with a record of 2-2-1 and look forward to building on their success in the fall.
