Flash Continue Strong Play with Tie Against FC Europa

May 5, 2019 -- The Flash outplayed FC Europa but had to settle for a 2-2 tie on a muy mojada cinco de mayo. In what was likely one of the only outdoor soccer games being played in the tri-state area on Sunday, the players dealt with conditions of alternating steady rain and drizzle.

FC Europa got a goal five minutes into the game, but the Flash answered quickly. After sustained pressure in the offensive zone, Tyler stole the ball off a goal kick and buried a shot in the lower-left corner of the net. Grayson and Aidan had good chances near the end of the first half, including a double-doink off the crossbar that would have made Cody Parkey proud.

James gave the Flash the lead in the 43rd minute, with a hard shot that slipped past the goaltender. Vance followed with a couple of nice saves to keep the score at 2-1.

The Flash had several opportunities to extend the lead. Tyler and Connor executed a pretty give-and-go up the left side, followed by a centering pass to Aaron, who nearly made it a 3-1 game. Tyler and Connor both had good shots late, before FC Europa lofted another shot into the goal to tie the game with 12 minutes to go.
